ALBION RESPONDS TO TURKEY & SYRIA EARTHQUAKE

In response to the devastating earthquake which struct Turkey and Syria in early February 2023, the Albion cargo arranged a series of B747F flights from the UAE to Adana Airport, Turkey.  The Albion cargo team has amassed significant experience in responding to major humanitarian disasters, so were quick to source the appropriate aircraft types and assess which airports were adequately to accept large volumes of aid at such short notice.  Working closely with the end client, relief agencies and the B747F charter operators, the Albion team ensured that all available the space within each of the chartered B747F flights was fully utilized.  The cargo consisted of a combination of tents, blankets and kitchen sets.  Due to the urgent nature of the flights, the Albion team and its client coordinated closely with the Turkish authorities to ensure that the necessary landing permissions were secured immediately and positioned a flight manager at the departure airport in the UAE to help coordinate the deliveries from the various relief agencies. These flights are yet another testament of the Albion cargo team’s wide ranging ability and experience in responding to complex and urgent charter requirements within the humanitarian disaster and relief sector.
