ALBION PERFORMS A VACCINE CHARTER FLIGHT TO THE ISLAND CHAIN OF CAPE VERDE

The Albion cargo team successfully executed another complex charter flight moving COVID-19 Vaccines and this time from the U.S. to the remote island chain of Cape Verde located in the Atlantic Ocean off the west coast of Africa.  In order to facilitate the delivery to Praia International Airport (RAI) on the Santiago Island in Cape Verde, the Albion team had to carefully arrange two charters and set-up a wing to wing transfer at an EU hub Airport, as no direct service exists between the U.S. and Cape Verde.  On the first sector a B747F was used to bring the cargo from the U.S. to Europe and then the vaccine shipment was then transferred onto a much smaller AN26 aircraft to complete the final sector to Praia International Airport (RAI).  Connecting the two charters required careful planning to minimize any possible delays, as the vaccine shipment was both time and temperature sensitive (+2 to +8 degrees centigrade).  Both charter flights were executed successfully and the COVID-19 vaccines arrived safely and on time at their final destination Santiago Island in Cape Verde.
